Ariel Nguekam rose above everyone else as his 65th minute header proved to be the difference in United City FC’s 1-0 victory over Tuloy FC in Sunday’s Philippines Football League clash at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The result put United City in fifth place, six points behind leaders Kaya, with 19 points, while Tuloy sit in 12th with six points.

Even with its young squad, Tuloy caused plenty of problems as John Loyd Jalique and brothers Cyrelle and Syron Saut tested Henri Bandeken Fong’s goalkeeping prowess during the match.

United City skipper Ricardo Sendra almost doubled the lead late in the second half, but his effort was thwarted by Michael Antilo Jr. Still, UCFC hung on to take the three points, keeping them in the thick of the fight for the league title.
