Getting the green light from the government, clubs of the Philippines Football League brought to you by Qatar Airways (PFL) began team training sessions last Wednesday, 2 September 2020 at the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

PFL clubs are allowed to train for up to two (2) hours each day under the training protocols set in the PFF Operations Protocol for PFL and the Joint Administrative Order (JAO). A maximum of five players are allowed on each side of the field, while small groups can also train in the mini pitches inside the facility.

“We are glad that the PFL clubs have finally resumed their training sessions,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr. “With the proper health and safety protocols in place at the venue, we hope that this will be the first step towards the resumption of the league.”

Stallion Laguna captain Ruben Doctora, Jr. and Kaya FC-Iloilo forward Kenshiro Daniels welcomed the developments.

“We are overwhelmed again to come back to training with the club,” said Doctora. “We are lucky to be back, but we need to adjust and follow the protocols.”

“It feels great to be back on the pitch, we’ve been waiting for it for a long time,” added Daniels. “We’re all just happy to be out here and train. We need to start off with the protocols and focus on our fitness. We’re ready and really eager to play eventually.”

Mendiola FC, United City FC, and newly licensed club Maharlika FC have also started training last week.
