French striker Junior Mailly made his presence felt again as Maharlika Taguig FC collected their third victory of the season after a 3-1 win over DB Garelli United FC last Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Mailly fired a hattrick with goals in the 36th, 48th, and 77th minutes as Maharlika moved up to eighth place in the table with nine points from six matches.
Gael Basana set up Mailly for the first goal as the Maharlika skipper won the ball in their attacking half, before releasing Mailly who fired with his left foot at the near post.
Mailly got his second just three minutes after the restart with MJ Libre setting him up with a square ball at the edge of the area. It seemed like his first touch was too heavy but Mailly kept possession before slotting the ball home.
Garelli was handed a lifeline when Jules Koumoin scored in the 76th minute after dispossessing goalkeeper Mamadou Sene at the edge of the area.
But Maharlika responded a minute later with Mailly getting on the end of Basana’s through ball before finishing in style again to restore the two goal advantage.
Garelli suffered its sixth loss in seven matches, staying at 13th spot with just three points.
