Manila Digger FC emerged victorious over Philippine Air Force FC with a 2-1 win in Saturday’s opening fixture at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Daiki Jahana sealed the three points for Manila Digger in added time to move up in seventh place while Air Force remained at the bottom half of the table in 14th place.
The match started with high energy, but it was Air Force who drew first blood. Angelo Obero struck from just inside the box to put the Airmen ahead in the 22nd minute.
However, Digger’s showed resilience, scoring in the 59th minute from a solo effort from Jim Ashley Flores.side.
Digger continued to press forward, but it was Air Force that came closest to taking the lead in the 79th minute from a Eric Mauring strike that was only denied by the goalpost.
With the match destined for a draw heading into added time, Jahana finally broke through, making no mistake to fire home the winner.
