Jarvey Gayoso displayed his versatility Friday night as the Azkals Development Team surged in the second half to swamp Maharlika Manila FC, 5-0, for its second win in a row in the Philippines Football League at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Set up on the left midfield by ADT coach Scott Cooper, Gayoso delivered a brace while creating space for Chima Uzoka’s pair of goals in the second half as the youthful side secured its most lopsided result in the tournament.

Yrick Gallantes added the fifth goal with a feed from substitute Lance Ocampo to push ADT to third spot behind United City and Kaya.

It was Maharlika’s second straight defeat as coach Roxy Dorlas‘ squad remained at three points.

Gayoso converted a penalty kick in the 60th minute after Maharlika midfielder Dingdong Fornea clipped Ocampo inside the area.

“After we conceded that first goal, emotions started to come in and I think my players wanted to respond right away and it didn’t happen,” rued the mentor. “It’s hard to with 11 individuals than a team to open up space for ADT and then we conceded the second goal right after.”

That goal was courtesy of Gallantes, who slotted the ball home in the 65th off Ocampo’s assist.

“My squad played with a bit more calm in the second half so I was pleased with the results,” said Cooper.

The national team coach also praised Gayoso’s all-around performance.

“He (Gayoso) deserved to be up front with that header in the last game,” said Cooper. “There’s no doubt that Jarvey’s an attacking man but I believe he’s better if he sees things in front of him rather than waiting on things.”

The former Ateneo star’s vision was seen in the 76th when he beat the offside trap on the left wing for a cut back to Uzoka, who volleyed in the 76th minute. Gayoso also set up another Uzoka goal in the 90th minute.

The ADT skipper sealed the win with the final goal in the first minute of stoppage time with a curling strike from 15 yards, the ball hitting the inside the post before going into the net.

“Versatile is a good description for Jarvey: He’s shown he is good on set pieces, his shown he can finish with composure, he has a great engine,” noted Cooper.
