Jovin Bedic was rewarded for his prominent role in Kaya-Iloilo’s successful title run in the Copa Paulino Alcantara by receiving the Golden Ball award.
The striker from Barotac Nuevo earned the distinction as the tournament’s best player shortly after Kaya defeated the Azkals Developmental Team, 1-0, in the final held Friday, November 19, 2021 at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona, Cavite.
Bedic scored three goals during the competition that saw Kaya capture its first trophy since the Copa’s first edition in 2018.
It completed a productive 2021 for Bedic, who scored once during Kaya’s maiden campaign in the prestigious AFC Champions League. Kaya saw another one of its pillars receive an individual honor in goalkeeper Michael Casas, who took the Golden Glove honors.
Casas started three of the four Copa matches, all resulting in clean sheets. The former national team mainstay also made a key save during Kaya’s 1-0 win over Dynamic Herb Cebu in the semifinals.
ADT captain Jarvey Gayoso took the Golden Boot for producing the most goals in the Copa with six.
Gayoso is best remembered for finding the back of the net five times in a 9-0 victory over Mendiola FC 1991 in the group stage.
The ADT talisman missed the final after suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-1 defeat of Stallion Laguna in the semis.
