The Philippine Football Federation’s (PFF) Club Licensing First Instance Body (FIB) will tackle the application of the clubs interested to join the Philippines Football League brought to you by Qatar Airways 2021 season.

The FIB meetings will determine the fate of the clubs which have signified their intentions early this year to undergo the extraordinary application for a PFF Club License to participate in PFL Season 2021.

Although the increasing interest from applicant clubs augur well for the league’s expansion plans, each applicant club has to undergo a very stringent application process which requires a club to comply to the criteria set forth in the PFF Club Licensing Regulations such as Sporting, Infrastructure, Personnel and Administration, Legal, and Financial to get the approval to compete in the country’s only professional football league.

The PFL currently has five (5) licensed clubs in United City FC, Kaya FC-Iloilo, Stallion Laguna, Mendiola FC, and Maharlika Manila FC. The Azkals Development Team, comprised of the Philippine Men’s Under-23 National Team, will once again participate as an invited team for this year’s edition of the PFL.

“Our goal is to make the league bigger, stronger, and more sustainable and having clubs applying for a PFF Club License to compete in the PFL is certainly a great sign that we are making progress,” said PFL commissioner Coco Torre. “We wish the applicant clubs all the best with their application.”

The Philippines Football League is pegged to kick-off on 21 August 2021 pending the approval of the Games and Amusements Board and IATF on the submitted PFL Closed Circuit Protocols.
