Last season’s runners up Dynamic Herb Cebu FC announced on Wednesday 09 August 2023 that Joshua Schirmer has been appointed as head coach for the upcoming season.
Schrimer replaces Mehmet Kakil, who steered the club to a second place finish in their first season in the Philippines Football League.
The American coach had stints in Europe for Sparta Prague and the United States for Orlando City FC.
“I greatly appreciate the opportunity presented to me to lead Cebu FC in the PFL, Copa Alcantara, and AFC Cup this season and I’m excited to be back in Asia after working in Europe and USA,” said Schrimer. “I know the quality of players and teams in Asia from my time in Urawa and look forward to being part of Asian football again. We have assembled a fantastic staff and brought in high level new players to compliment an already strong squad. Our team aim to play a brand of football that everyone in Cebu can be proud of and aim to bring home the first professional trophy for Cebu FC.”
“He is expected to share his passion in football by developing training sessions,” added Dynamic Herb Cebu FC in a statement posted on their Facebook page.
