League leaders Kaya FC-Iloilo collected their seventh win of the season after a 3-1 win over Manila Digger FC in Saturday’s second fixture at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The win saw Kaya go up to 22 points, while Manila Digger remained in seventh place with 15 points after nine matches.
Current league top scorer Jarvey Gayoso notched his 18th goal of this season in the 18th minute of the match. Kaishu Yamazaki placed the weighted ball into the path of the forward, who finished it past Yuya Kurayama.
Manila Digger equalized nine minutes later. Salifu Jatta headed home Sangcheon Jeon’s cross from the right flank after Kaya’s defense broke down in the box.
Digger had several chances to score, but were left thwarted by Walid Birrou Essafi.
Robert Lopez Mendy turned the tide in favor of Kaya in the 66th minute. The Senegalese forward was there for the follow up after Jhan Melliza’s initial strike was deflected by Ebarle.
Shuto Komaki added a third goal in the 78th minute to complete the result for the defending champions.
