Jon Aaron Nebreja fired a hat-trick as Mendiola FC 1991 ended their three-game losing skid with a 6-0 rout of winless Manila Montet FC in Saturday’s triple-header closer at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Both sides entered the game looking for a win to end their respective slides, but it was Mendiola that picked up the three points after the contest.
Nebreja fueled Mendiola with the opening goal in the 34th minute. The forward headed it in from a cross from Hiromasa Ishikawa to finally beat Manila Montet goalkeeper Rafael Mamanong who was having a fine game until then.
Mendiola went on to turn on the afterburners in the second half. Nebreja doubled the advantage four minutes in the second half off a rebound after Mamanong made a string of saves.
Kirk See made it 3-0 for Mendiola in the 52nd minute. The midfielder rifled a volley from just inside the box off a cross by Hiromasa Ishikawa.
Ishikawa added to the scoreline in the 65th minute, slotting the ball home after a through pass by Nicolai Abalos.
Nebreja completed his hat-trick three minutes later with a rebound of Ishikawa’s initial strike before the Japanese striker added a sixth goal for Mendiola with 12 minutes remaining.
