United City FC confirmed on Wednesday, 10 March 2021, that Bienvenido Marañon has signed a new contract with the PFL champions for the coming season
“(Marañon) will be returning, expected to enforce the UCFC front line and to add to his tremendous goal scoring records,” said United City FC in a statement.
A prolific goalscorer by nature, Marañon has netted 74 goals in his four trophy-laden career with the club, with four straight PFL titles, one Copa Paulino Alcantara, and one AFC Cup ASEAN Zone plum. Last season, he led United City to the 2020 PFL crown with 7 goals.
He is also the AFC Cup’s all-time top scorer with 35 goals in the competition last year.
As one of the club’s returning players, Marañon expects the club to scale greater heights in their domestic and continental campaigns this season.
“We will continue to strive to be better, by being humble, training hard, and giving our 100% this coming season in the PFL and in the AFC Champions League,” said Marañon.
He is joined back in the lineup with goalkeeper Florencio Badelic, Jr., defenders Jordan Jarvis, Sean Kane, and midfielders Pocholo Bugas, Angelo Marasigan, Hikaru Minegishi, Mike Ott, and Arnie Pasinabo, Jr.
The club will announce more signings within the coming days.
