Finn McDaniel opened his Copa Paulino Alcantara account with a hat-trick performance as Stallion Laguna ran past ten-man Philippine Army FC, 6-1, in Sunday’s Copa Paulino Alcantara at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Stallion forward, who also wore the captain’s armband for the first time, netted in the fifth, 56th, and 90th minutes to complete his hat-trick as the Laguna side begin their Group C run with the three points.
Juan Galeana Trujillo fired a brace in the 15th and 31st minute while new signing Christian Schaffner opened his goal tally in the 76th minute.
Jimuel Ariola gave Philippine Army a consolation goal in the 64th minute, but also saw the forward get sent off mere seconds after the goal.
Stallion currently sit in fourth place, a lot to play for in Group C, while Philippine Army’s knockout hopes are on the line with three points in third place.
After three attempts, Far Eastern University finally collected its first win in Group A after a 4-0 win over sixth placed Garelli United in the second match.
FEU pair Martini Rey (36’ and 56’) and Selwyn Mamon (75’ and 83’) bagged a brace each to go five points in Group A.
