Tsukasa Shimomura scored three goals as One Taguig FC produced a 9-1 beatdown of Mendiola FC 1991 in Saturday’s Philippines Football League action at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Taguig went to fifth place with 18 points while Mendiola remained in 10th place with 7 points.
It needed 38 minutes before Taguig opened the scoring as Naoto Hiraishi broke the deadlock. Arnel Amita fired from outside the box that was denied by Mamadou Sene, but the Japanese midfielder was there to head home the rebound.
Amita would join in the scoresheet right before halftime, with a shot from a tight angle towards the far post.
Taguig went on to open the floodgates in the second half, with Shimomura opening his account in the 49th minute, before Hiraishi netted his second in the 55th minute.
Shimomura would complete his hat-trick, scoring in the 65th and 72nd minutes before Kevin Ingreso added Taguig’s seventh in the 85th minute.
Substitute Andres Aldeguer added further gloss with two quick goals in the 86th and 88th minutes.
