A four-goal effort from Tsukasa Shimomura was more than enough to lead One Taguig FC to clinch their second win in as many games at the expense of Philippine Air Force FC, 8-0, earlier Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
The Japanese striker pushed his goalscoring tally to five goals from two matches.
Taguig captain and Philippines international Kevin Ingreso dictated the midfield, while Patrick Grogg similarly started the game strong as he eventually found the opener in the 16th minute from the wing.
The Philippines U23 winger went on to also finish with two assists.
Yannick Tuason also looked to pad Taguig’s lead but only managed to find the crossbar after beating Air Force goalkeeper Mark Mendome. The Airmen, anchored by the midfield duo of Karl Bronda and Romeo Martinez Jr., struggled to get going as Shimomura picked up his first two goals (29’ 38’) before halftime.
Shimomura went on to complete his scoring performance in the second half as he slipped past the Air Force defense to score in the 58th minute and convert a penalty in the 73’ mark. The likes of Dennis Chung (65’) and Naoto Hiraishi (79’) also added goals of their own in the latter stages of match. The returning Izzo Elhabbib also entered late in the game to score an added time goal as One Taguig FC Goalkeeper Quincy Kammeraad picked up his first clean sheet of the season.
