Stallion-Laguna and Dynamic Herb Cebu look to make up for their heartbreaking semifinal defeats and end the Copa Paulino Alcantara on a high note when they square in a consolation match for third place on Friday, November 19, 2021.

Both clubs meet at 4 p.m. at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona, Cavite in a rematch of their rugged group stage affair which saw Stallion spoiling Cebu’s top-flight debut with a 1-0 win nine days affair.

The two came up short in their quest to reach the final of the cup competition, with Stallion losing 2-1 to the Azkals Development Team in extra time and Cebu was handed a 1-0 setback by Kaya-Iloilo.

Stallion couldn’t sustain a one-goal lead courtesy of Abe Placito’s header in the 53rd minute as Jarvey Gayoso scored an equalizing goal in the second half before Yrick Gallantes converted the eventual winner in the 116th.

Laguna also wasted a golden chance to take the lead in extra time when Finn McDaniel’s attempt was saved by ADT goalkeeper Quincy Kameraad during a one-on-one situation.

Cebu was minutes away from sending its semifinal duel with Kaya to extra time when Baris Tasci committed a handball while defending Daizo Horikoshi inside the box, allowing Jovin Bedic to score the only goal from the penalty spot.

The Central Visayas outfit earlier had a chance to take the lead but Ricky Sendra’s header was saved by Kaya’s Michael Casas.
Stallion beat Cebu to clinch the Group A spot on November 10 when Senegalese striker Abou Sy scored in the 19th minute.

The Horsemen had to lean on the play of center backs Placito and Gabe Silva to take the full three points despite being reduced to 10 men when Yannick Tuason was sent off for a second yellow card.

Tuason had earlier been given a first yellow when he engaged in a verbal exchange with John Saldivar, highlighting the heated nature of that match.
