Dynamic Herb Cebu and Stallion-Laguna look to end their 2022 Copa Paulino Alcantara campaign on a winning note when they face off for third place Sunday, May 22 at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona, Cavite.

Kickoff is set at 5 p.m. with the two clubs meeting in the consolation match of the country’s premier cup competition for the second straight time.

It would be recalled that a penalty shootout was needed during the 2021 edition held last November, with Stallion ending up victorious behind the heroics of goalkeeper Kenneth James.

Both Cebu and Stallion will come in hoping to have finally shook off the effects of their 1-0 defeats in the semifinals held last Tuesday.

Stallion’s upset bid against defending champion Kaya-Iloilo fell short after conceding a late goal courtesy of Copa’s top scorer Daizo Horikoshi.

On the other hand, the title ambitions of Cebu succumbed to United City FC on Simen Lyngbo’s score with a half-minute to go in their own semifinal duel.

Cebu, which improved leaps and bounds to finish second at the end of the elimination round, is out to bring back a medal despite the disappointing defeat to UCFC.

Stallion, meanwhile, will attempt to deny Cebu’s bid and put a bright end to what has been a challenging campaign.

The Horsemen didn’t win a single match in the eliminations but the four draws were enough to secure the final semis berth.

Cebu defeated Stallion, 2-0, during their previous meeting last April 25 with Chima Uzoka and Roberto Corsame scoring each half.
