Stallion Laguna FC moved up to third place in the standings after dismantling Maharlika Manila FC, 4-1, in Wednesday’s Philippines Football League brought to you by Qatar Airways at the Biñan Football Stadium.
Goals from Abraham Placito, Rafael Nogueda, Juan Galeana, and Kraig Bonanken powered the Laguna side past Azkals Development Team in the standings with 24 points on seven wins, one draw, and seven losses.
Meanwhile, Maharlika remained at the bottom of the standings with four points after 18 matches played.
“We’re still kinda getting better, but we dealt with the physicality of Maharlika, allowing us to have a great performance,” said Placito.
Placito opened the floodgates in the fourth minute with a close ranged strike from Finn McDaniel’s corner kick.
Nogueda doubled the lead in the 28th minute after he was found by Bonanken with the timely weighted pass.
Stallion pressed on for a third goal and found it in the 69th minute from Galeana, with McDaniel providing the assist for the goal.
Bonanken added gloss to the scoreline with a volleyed effort in the 75th minute, but Maharlika claimed a consolation goal with seven minutes left from Zachary Ford, denying a clean sheet for goalkeeper Patrick Deyto.
