United City announced on Saturday, 27 February 2021, the departure of Japanese midfielder Takashi Odawara to Maldivian side Maziya S&RC.
Odawara is the latest player to leave the club following the departures of OJ Porteria, Dennis Villanueva, Manny Ott, and Robert Lopez-Mendy.
“We would like to thank him for his contributions in helping us win the 2020 PFL Championship,” the club said in a statement.
The midfielder spent four years in the league. He first suited up for JPV Marikina FC in 2017 before moving to Davao Aguilas FC in 2018.
He joined Ceres-Negros FC in 2019 and was part of the team that went on to clinch a league and cup double. He was awarded the Golden Ball award during the club’s Copa Paulino Alcantara triumph.
Odawara was a key figure in Ceres’ continental campaign in the AFC Champions League play-off and AFC Cup as well as United City’s league title run in last year’s bubble competition.
