Philippines Football League champions United City FC isn’t resting on its laurels as it builds up for the 2021 season.
“We have a good team prepared and we are looking forward to the start of the season,” said United City CEO Eric Gottschalk during the PFL Season 2021 virtual launch last Saturday 16 January 2021.
The club got the ball rolling with the signing of goalkeeper Anthony Pinthus from Azkals Development Team on a permanent basis.
The goalkeeper impressed in his first season and claimed the league’s Golden Glove award with three clean sheets.
“We wanted to make sure is that we our foundation is in place and it starts with our goalkeeper, Anthony Pinthus,” said Gottschalk. “He’s a super talented player and from the start of the season, we made sure that he can remain with us.
With Pinthus on board, Gottschalk hopes to reinforce the squad ahead of the AFC Champions League and the PFL season beginning with the Copa Paulino Alcantara.
“We still have a lot of quality in this team,” said Gottschalk. “We want to build a strong team without breaking the bank.”
